Ahh yes, to answer my final question:
YES, Freedom is important!
Freedom is more than important, it is vital! You may have noticed that I always capitalize "Freedom/Free" and it is no accident, rather it is to place significance on the very concept. It is to venerate the word, the way we do for the name of a country, or a fellow human being, to demonstrate that the word is to be recognized and stand out amongst the myriad of other words we use as something worth paying attention to.
Humanity has been fighting for Freedom since the beginning. Even the Babylonian 'Code of Hammurabi' which stands as one of the oldest deciphered law codes dating back to about 1772 B.C. tells us that slavery was an integral part of Mesopotamian culture. Think of the accredited reason the separatists/pilgrims came to America in the first place - to gain religious Freedom from Queen Elizabeth's 'Act of Uniformity 1559.' Indeed, the prospect of Freedom is widely recognized throughout the history of humanity as being imperative.
But what is the big deal, why is that?
I believe it is because as creatures on a planet, we humans have intrinsic knowledge of what the 'Natural Order' is. Of course this 'Natural Order' is an extremely pervasive subject, but I see it essentially as: The many ways in which Nature functions on it's own. In other words it's how the Universe operates. (Whether humans are actually
part of the Natural Order, or
separate from the Natural Order is a fascinating topic for another time!)
What I mean, basically, is that we as people are inherently Free, because we are Alive! It is our birthright as a human, the way it is the birthright of every creature to be Free. It is the Natural way of being, which is the way that every other species has always been. Freedom is potentially the single most fundamental thing that we are born with, after our bodies and perceptions. It is Freedom which allows us to be where we want to be, do what we want to do, as it is Freedom which allows us the
options we as people so crave.
Chances are that every person reading this has a great degree of options- for what to buy, who to associate with, how to behave (or not) and generally how to spend time from day to day, whether it's going to a bar or a library, or going for a stroll, or a run. However we are generally not, as a society, keenly aware of the many ways in which we are
not Free:
We must pay taxes to our government (to do with whatever they will), we must have identification to do almost anything (even to order fast food lately!) we must be under surveillance inside of buildings, outside at street corners, in our digital communication and be recorded into in a mega-database, we must send children to school under the 'u.s. department of education' for them to stand a chance in society, must vaccinate them if they're to stay in that school and we must abide by a plethora of ridiculous laws and regulations (such as
these) in order to stay out of jail or avoid paying hefty fines, to name a few things. There are many more, and these are all the matters in which we have
no choice,
no options. There are even the ways the masses are
trained how to think which convince us to buy products we don't need, uphold a false image of ourselves, and develop a distorted view of reality! (much more on that later..)
I humbly suggest that any person who takes the time to research some of the methods used by various power-centers (corporations/media, banks, government etc.) to make themselves more profitable and powerful, will understand that those methods customarily diminish our Freedom, piece by piece, often times in very subtle ways. One who has done even a minimal amount of study can realize how our Freedom, in it's many forms, is at risk as the fact remains:
If we (the 99.999% of humans) do nothing at a foundational level to change society, then we will have less and less control over our own lives. We know how greed functions: The "powers-that-shouldn't-be"
always want more power, and this lamentably comes in the form of demolishing the quality of life for the rest of us.
Back to the point - I should not have to explain why Freedom is so indispensible, because it is something absolutely intrinsic to the human experience! It simply rubs us in a bad way, just to
think of being controlled, of being a slave. It is one of our base desires (such as food or sleep) to want to be able to choose what we do, in every possible circumstance, based on the truth. That said, the truth of how the world works is probably more deeply buried than ever.
I care enough about Truth & Freedom to create this forum and to do my damnedest to learn from, and teach as many people as possible! I won't rest until everybody in the world is Free!!
